whole time I lived there because of mold/dust mites, you can hear every little thing through the walls at night from above, below, and the side apartments. Any movement was super loud and you can never get a good night's sleep. The office hours are always changing, and it is difficult to get ahold of anyone in the office. Everything is super overpriced and the quality is terrible. One time maintenance came into our apartment without letting any of the current residents know that they were coming and messed up one of my roommate's bedding (because the apartment next door had bed bugs and they wanted to see if it had spread to our apartment) and left the door unlocked when they left. When my roommate and I came home we almost called the police thinking that someone had broken into our apartment, only to find out it was maintenance that told us that "they sent an email to us" about them coming (which they didn't, none of us received it) and once we confronted them about the email, they said that their "email system has been acting weird". Total invasion of privacy. I sold my contract (which I had to pay almost a whole month of rent in order to sell), and they haven't sent me my security deposit back even though I have called dozens of times to have them send it to me, but no one in the office picks up because they are always too busy with lunch and leave earlier than the office hours are listed. COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT. If I could give negative stars, I would.
see moreare disgusting. “Mom, my apartments in my South America mission were nicer than this.” When I went to visit, I agreed. The vacuum is broken, the carpets filthy, only one fridge, walls all need to be repainted, black mold in the bathroom, a giant hole in the ceiling for the swamp cooler with no vent. Only one desk in the bedroom with nasty old couches in the living room. No TV. Stairwell stairs are deteriorating, walls are dark and dirty. Coin-op laundry. My daughter at BYU-I has none of these issues at the same rent price point in a new building. Also, the pool is closed. This was a big advertising draw when we were looking at apartments. No notification was posted that the pool is closed prior to signing the lease, and no emails sent letting us know. I hear remodeling is happening, so that is good! Throw up some new paint and hire kids to deep clean stairwells. Charge less for the broken pool and poor living conditions. Lawn area looked well groomed.
see moreProvo, but don’t let that fool you into thinking that’s all you’ll spend here. Cleaning checks are absolutely brutal, I spent 16 hours deep cleaning for a white glove check and still got fined ($75). Both summers I’ve been here the pool has only been opened a fourth of the summer, which may be a coincidence but still sucks. Laundry is minimum $4.25 a load. On top of all that, the red brick apartments are super worn down, which is what you get when it’s so cheap. I have felt disrespected as my concerns have been dismissively ignored. Management does not seem to care about tenants, at least until rent is due. This is an okay choice if you’re on a tight budget, but if you have another option choose the other option. It may not be worth the stress. P.S. I would like to add that I don’t have an issue with those that work in the office, they’re so sweet. Management is the issue P.P.S. Be aware that lots of the comments Monticello is leaving on these reviews is PR control, and half of what they respond with is bullcrap. If you really want to know how things are just ask someone who lives here
see moreisn't great, but Lisette who manages Monticello's emails/office—the only person you can really talk to—accused me of "loitering" in my own apartment when I came home to unexpected maintenance (a middle aged man emerging from my bathroom). Almost comical except for that I'm just kind of tired of them at this point. She also told me I had accused that worker of sexual harassment (I did not). Too much to get into here but ask me about it and I'll show you our emails. I also have a friend here whose car got towed because of some issue with Monticello's parking stickers and Monticello refused to reimburse the steep impound release fees. Also, they did months of renovations on our apartment (breaking laws as they went; didn't inform us when workers were coming, painted & sprayed other things we probably shouldn't be breathing without properly warning or relocating us) and refused to lower rent for us the whole time. They sent us ONE dinner as compensation despite our kitchen not being a reasonably usable space for a long period of time. They would leave particles coating everything, make us take stuff out of our cabinets, and got us a temporary sink that kept breaking. Plus since the space is small to begin with it there was no counter space within reach left (they had moved our dishwasher to block the remaining portion of it). And for a while there was a hole in the wall between the kitchen and toilet that they just covered with cardboard. Anyway. About to go pay this month's rent to them as soon as I post this review! Just live somewhere else. There's higher value housing south of campus.
see morea little farther away from campus. The couches are not awful and the mattress wasn’t problematic. Come tour it and decide for yourself:)
see morefix things like light bulbs or they will charge you up to 75 dollars for a failed cleaning check. -They just recently doubled their pricing and added a tier element to it so that rent because more expensive as more people move in. -The apartments/houses Monticello owns are outdated and falling apart. As said before, they are not doing anything to fix that. You get what you get. -You have the privilege of paying around 4 dollars or more for a single wash of clothes. -Management has absolutely no respect or care for their tenants. Several times during my contract management sent out mass emails to everyone verbally attacking and/or doxing an apartment or tenant for small things. Luckily, this never happened to me. Extremely distasteful. (If anyone higher up sees this, please consider hiring a new manager of these apartments. She has destroyed your brand.) -There is no good parking options. There are two small parking lots but a pass is extremely expensive and the lot is full 99% of the time. You are right next to campus so street parking is not much of an option either. Prepare to park 2-3 blocks away from your apartment. The bright side is that many of the rooms will be vacant this summer. Everyone is moving out because of the issues. If you'd like to help Redstone hit their bottom line, Monticello is the place to go.
see moreRedstone would be smart to remove her if they want to save this property.
see moreIf not, they will charge you 75 dollars for not fixing their stuff regardless.
see moreusage. There isn't enough parking for everyone who wants a space, and some of the apartments don't have AC. The owners are fairly good at taking care of things in a timely manner. It's the closest you can get to campus for the cheapest price.
see moreboys and the girls are super close so it isn't hard to be social. It sort of just has a community feel to it.
see moreheater break though and it took them a couple of days to get to it... which wasn't fun.
see moreThe kitchen is pretty nice and large too. Only problem is that the heating in the winter isn't great in the living room and kitchen. Basement apartments don't have a swamp cooler or AC so that is less fun too.
