stars. We lived in the married housing, so it might be a little different perspective than some, but I wouldn't recommend it and would never go back. Apartment quality 0/5 Very thin walls. We could even hear neighbor's conversations on speaker phone and I learned their names and their families’ names before I even met them. We paid a very large deposit (about 2 months rent) for apartments that are very very old. We had worn out spots on the carpet and cracks in the wall which doesn't really bother us, but we felt lucky that nothing come out our deposit. Pool isn't open, so don't plan on that in the amenities. The bath would leak through to the neighbors below us as well so umm... quick showers only? Location 4/5 This is very close to BYU, so if you are a student it could be appealing. Nice people around, and just south of campus about a block away from the duck pond. Very busy area and lots of traffic that makes driving/parking hard and annoying but if you don't mind walking it's a great spot. Many other student apartments around as well. Price 3/5 (This was for building H) Deposit was about 1700. Monthly rent is 879 + 70 for utilities, but you need to get your name in Gas and Electric so utilities are closer to 70+45+45 (on average). Parking passes are $10 a month as well so plan on paying about 1050 for rent and utilities. As far as price goes it's one of the cheaper options for Provo, but I still don't feel like it's worth having to deal with the issues that arise (and I didn't see anybody work on anything the whole time I was there so I don't know how well things get fixed). Management 0/5 I may be mistaken but I think there was recent management change. I hope they've gotten up to speed but the whole time we were there they were struggling with knowing what to do. Bought a parking pass and another tenant told me I was in their spot. Turns out they had sold 2 passes to the same spot. It also took us while to finally get a hold of the management to pick up keys (mail key). Trying to leave was also a disaster. We were only there for the summer and had planned on renewing our contract when we found out it had been sold for the semester. Finding housing in Provo is a struggle but I think it's a blessing in disguise we had to leave. We found a different place a month before the summer ended because they told us we could sell the remaining part of the lease. When I found someone interested in only staying the remaining month, I had to send multiple emails including them and the interested renter before they would respond. In the end they told them no, with no indication why, other than hinting that they thought the people inquiring wanted to renew their contract and stay into the fall semester. After that they would send interested people to us, but obviously didn't screen them because they all wanted a contract that could be renewed. Didn't help at all and I was stuck paying the last month even though we weren't living there. It feels like apartments are getting away with murder these days and one red flag that I saw and ignored here was in the lease where it states that if you find mold anywhere you aren't allowed to test it. Only the apartment is allowed to test it and they aren't required to disclose the information with you. I know looking for housing (especially married housing) is a huge hassle, but don't settle for here.
see morecomplex is very close to campus. It is reasonably priced for being so close. I pay $289 per month for a year round contract. The owners are very nice and only ask you to leave the apartment in the same way you found it. Cleaning checks during the year are a breeze but are more intense when someone moves out of the apartment. When someone is leaving, you are supposed to really deep clean the apartment so that it looks good for whoever moves in (just like it should be when you moved in). You are given a sheet to write down any problems you see with the apartment when you move in. There are no unreasonable requests for cleaning checks. As long as you don't let your apartment become disgusting there will be no problems. You buy a parking spot and have that spot for the year. If another resident parks in your spot you can call the manager and they will either direct you to an open spot or they will contact the person and ask them to move it. If a non-resident parks in your spot, you can contact the manager to either have them booted or towed. I would definitely recommend living here.
see morea joke. They took over 30 days to return my deposit. Walls are super thin, you can always hear neighbors. No dogs allowed but neighbors had a dog sitting business and management did nothing about it. You’ll stay up all night listening to your neighbors. Do not live here.
see moresmall and unused. They only have one person in the office part time, so most of my problems went unfixed. Our apartment and many others had an old vacuum that didn't even have a bag in it. Their cleaning checks were way too lenient- most people would be fine with that, me too, but I had a random roommate who was disgusting and nothing we did, including monthly cleaning checks, changed that because he was never really held accountable. The apartment was nasty all year because of him. With all this it would still seem like a good deal for a seemingly low price that close to BYU campus, but then they charge another 50$ a month for utilities, which includes the sorriest cable package I've ever seen advertised as cable. I felt misinformed with these guys. For what you actually end up paying and getting you can pay the same or less and still be close to campus.
see moreof the semester. If anyone tried to park in your stall without permission, you could boot or tow them. This was all fine and good until the day came when someone actually parked in my stall without my permission for about 25 hours. I was pretty upset as I had to park far away and on the street. I called three different boot and tow companies in Provo and every single one of them told me they could not boot the car because Moon was not contracted with any of them. The next day I asked the manager which company they were contracted with and I was told they are contracted with no one. Because they are contracted with nobody, no boot company can do anything to any car in Moon's lot. Any random person can park at Moon anytime with absolutely no consequences. In other words, Moon charges its tenants for reserved parking but does not actually provide reserved parking. I feel this is dishonest, and I have a big problem with it. As long as this remains the situation, I cannot recommend Moon to anyone.
