after I left reported a maintenance issue 4 times and they never came and fixed it. The apartments do remain comfortable, well-furnished and nice overall; however, I am no longer able to recommend to someone that they should live at the Roost. The Roost no longer stands out - it has become a run-of-the-mill apartment complex.
see morebe in lounge past a certain time which also sucks because we are adults. Our carbon monoxide alarms went off in our building and when we tried to reach her we couldn’t so we called the police and the owners had to come out because the manager wouldn’t answer her phone. I wouldn’t live here unless you didn’t have any other choice.
see moreowners when I moved in were friends of mine and they were kind and respectful to me and, as far as I knew, to everyone else. The management entity has changed though, and I don't know if the owners I knew are still with it. But the current onsite manager has not changed, and she seems to do a fair job. Though I have twice been double charged rent in a month, she has helped me get a refund or apply it to next month's rent. She has been responsive to me. Most maintenance issues have been resolved well, soon after a request. My only complaint with maintenance has been their treatment of a plumbing/water heater issue. They have come twice to look at it, and partially resolved the issue, but the issue has not been fully resolved, and it has been three months. Other than that it has been a good place to live.
see moredoing it all by myself and had to take apart a bed frame from another room and reassemble it myself. I found out then that my roommate had a hyperactive border collie that she let roam freely throughout the house and would constantly bark throughout the day and night. My roommate was allergic to cats and I was unable to bring my ESA cat to the apartment the entire time I was there. When my roommate moved out, I got a new roommate and was excited for a break. This is community housing not BYU-Idaho housing so she had different standards then me, but I was accommodating and allowed her to do as she pleased. A couple days later, I started noticing multiple toothbrushes, toilet seats left up and men’s body wash. Only after meeting with management due to smelling smoke and vape in the apartment, I found out that management had allowed her boyfriend to move in with her without asking if it was okay with me first. When I had first toured the apartments and spoke with management, they stated that they rarely did co-ed shared apartments but only if all the roommates were okay with it. They had removed the lock from the bathroom door so I had no way to feel safe in my own apartment, as the boyfriend was there 24/7 and the roommate worked constantly. I ended up leaving way before my lease was up and paid the rest of it in full. They seemed shocked to have a tenant not default on a contract after leaving early. It took over a month to get my $600 deposit back, after reaching out multiple times. Not worth it for the cost!!! They have started doing clean checks in shared apartments as well. Nice apartments and amenities but management is hands off and they let in just about anyone.
see moreto talk to them about things like that. They've also started mandatory clean checks and will charge you if they think things are too dirty.
