room, so I had plenty of room for my stuff. The closet doors wouldn't stay all the way closed, so they hung open just a bit, but that wasn't a big problem. The main problem were the beds. They were low to the ground so you couldn't store anything under them, and using cinderblocks to prop them up was against the contract and would result in a $45 per hour per person removal fee. My bed frame was the small metal partial frame, and would fold in on itself sometimes, collapsing. It was nice having a window I could open in my room though. Overall Structure: It seemed like a lot of corners were cut in the "remodeling" of this apartment. The outlets would be new against an old wall, or the outlets would be old against a new wall. I already mentioned a lot of the baseboards were not replaced after they changed the floors. The big wall air conditioner was archaic and we had to put scenty things on it so it wouldn't blow out bad smelling air. The management: Again, I am going to be level headed here and just describe what happened. It was hard to get help. The people that would answer the phone (young sounding, maybe college students?) were usually kind. They would never give you an answer over the phone though. Nearly every single time I called them with questions about my contract, the apartment, moving out, etc., their response was to email them. It would take days to work through things because of the slow back and forth time. I had to do two move out cleaning checks. When I canceled the first time, they said that they would be coming anyway to do a cleaning check because our apartment was messy. Me and my roommates spent hours (no exaggeration, we did not want to lose our deposit because of pre-existing issues) cleaning and moving out. They never came. Because we moved out before our contract was up, and they didn't come do the check-out cleaning, we had to do it again. We did pass, luckily, and got our max deposit back. The contact says this: "1. NON-REFUNDABLE & REFRESH FEE: A $55 per semester non-refundable will be charged to the resident’s ledger once per contract cycle (within 30 days of contract end, or at time of contract renewal) for the purpose of carpet and/or blind cleaning, flooring replacement, and upholstery cleaning as desired by owner. ... Non-Refundable is assessed regardless of cleaning of carpets for that semester. ... A one-time $50 Refresh Fee will be charged to resident’s ledger within 30 days of contract end. This is a one-time fee, and is billed regardless of how long resident is under contract. This fee is to be used by ARM at ARM’s discretion to cover additional sanitization of unit." So that was a total of $165 dollars automatically taken from the contract. My roommates timed the professional cleaners that came to tidy things up. They were there for a total of 4 minutes and 45 seconds. So that's where that money is going. Overall, I would not recommend this unit to anyone. Aspen Ridge's nickel and dime fees really add up over time.
see morethey did decide to clean it, they swept all the debris into fat piles and left the piles there. There have been so many earwigs everywhere since then, earwigs crawling up from our drain in the bathroom, ear wigs falling from the top of the kitchen light, earwigs around our couches… and when we ask if they can do anything to take care of the bugs they just said that since it’s not BYU approved anymore they’re not responsible to take care of the bugs on the inside lol If you notice that there are a lot of vacancies at this place come time to find an apartment in the fall, there is a reason.
